Colleen Hilton, serves in a number of capacities for EMHS.  Colleen completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from UMO and the University of Southern Maine.  She holds a Certificate of Graduate Studies in Health Policy and Management from the Muskie Institute of USM.  Colleen is a graduate of the 2008 class of Health Leadership Development, a partnership between the Daniel Hanley Center for Health Leadership and the Institute for Civic Leadership.
 
Colleen has served in administrative capacities for the past 20 years.  She has been a passionate advocate for home health and hospice serving on the Home Care Alliance of Maine Board of Directors in several capacities.  She is a member of the Organization of Maine Nurse Executives as well as serving on several Professional Advisory roles in health care.  She has served as the Chair of the Cumberland District Public Health Council, advocating for public health throughout Maine.
 
Colleen is also actively involved in her local community.  She served on the Westbrook School Committee for ten years.  She was also elected as the Mayor of Westbrook in 2009 as the first female to hold that office in the city’s history.  She completed her third term in 2016.  She continues to serve on the Westbrook Children’s Cabinet, a group of civic leaders helping to encourage graduation rates and success in school.  She also serves on the Intercultural Community Center Board, an organization dedicated to ensure our immigrant children find success in their new communities.
 
Her constant drive for quality improvement, strong leadership qualities and dedication to health care at the community level has led to her organization’s reputation as the premier home health agency in Maine. VNA utilizes telemedicine technology to monitor care in the home. VNA has recently added a LifeStages program which utilizes non-professional staff to support an individual’s independence at home.  In 2012, Ms. Hilton led the VNA in organizing and administering 27,000 H1N1 vaccinations in Cumberland County resulting in one of the best immunization rates in the country.
 
Her professional goal is to share her vision of delivering compassionate care to people in need.  Together with EMHS they hope to demonstrate the value of home, hospice and community based health care to the people of Maine.

Elizabeth Rolfe possesses an extensive home care and hospice background. She served the Community Health & Counseling Services for 10 years, where she was responsible for home health and hospice services for Northern Penobscot and Piscataquis counties in Maine. Her professional experience also includes 16 years of acute care and hospital-based management. Since 1995, Elizabeth has been certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a board-certified nurse executive. This certification validates a nurse’s skills, knowledge, and abilities, while recognizing her within the professional sphere of activity and reflecting professional practice. Elizabeth lives in Phippsburg, Maine with her husband. She is passionate about the health and well-being of her local community, where she is an active member of the Phippsburg Land Trust Board of Directors.

Leah Wright has held several positions at VNA, including as an on-call/evening nurse, a member of the Central Intake department, a Clinical Supervisor, a Quality Manager, and now VP of Quality, Compliance & Informatics. Leah began her career at VNA as a field clinician nearly 20 years ago. She now serves as Director of Performance Improvement, monitoring quality outcomes for VNA. Leah joined the nursing profession after shadowing with her school nurse at a local hospital. After working briefly at Brighton Medical Center, she transitioned to an interventional cardiac unit at Maine Medical Center, before joining VNA’s team. A graduate of Westbrook College (now the University of New England) with a Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing, Leah resides in Gorham with her husband and two children.

Jane McGillicuddy , MS, BSN, RN, SHRM-SCP, SPHR

Jane McGillicuddy has served residents of Southern Maine for more than 25 years. She helped lead VNA through its initial Medicare Hospice certification and first Joint Commission accreditation. As a former clinician and clinical director, Jane’s experience coupled with her insight in administration and human resources brings a unique level of service to VNA. Currently, Jane is a member of the Maine Society for Healthcare Human Resource Administration, the Society for Healthcare Human Resource Administrators, and the Human Resource Association of Southern Maine. Jane earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from St. Anselm College and a Master of Science in Management from Antioch/New England Graduate School. She is also certified through the HR Certification Institute as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).

Suzi Tracy, MBA

Suzi Tracy has been with VNA Home Health Hospice for over 10 years. Prior to VNA, her career was focused in public accounting with positions in and out of Maine 14 years ago. Her experience in healthcare finance began as an Auditor for Medicare where she traveled throughout New England to audit hospitals, skilled facilities, and home care agencies.

Suzi has served on the Home Care & Hospice Alliance of Maine as a Board Member and Chair of the Finance Committee. Suzi also served the City of South Portland on the Economic Development Committee from April 2008 to March 2010. She was recognized as Volunteer of the Year for PROP (Peoples Regional Opportunity Program) in 2009 for 10 years of voluntary service.

Suzi holds a Bachelors Degree in Accounting from Southern Utah University and Masters of Science in Business from Husson University. She is married with two daughters, two great son-in-laws, and 3 (so far) grandsons.

Jackie joined EMHS Foundation in February 2014 to focus on VNA Home Health Hospice.  Following a career in New York hotel sales and marketing, and several years at home with her children, Jackie was introduced to VNA of Somerset Hills in New Jersey, where she discovered her passion for the elderly.  Just a few visits with VNA nurses into the homes of the sick and infirm was all it took.  As their Director of Development and Marketing, Jackie performed numerous VNA tasks.  She coordinated marketing efforts, raised $9.4m for a capital campaign, wrote numerous grants for programs helping people to age in place, initiated an annual giving campaign, and oversaw various events.  Eventually, however, it was time to return to her native New England. Jackie and her husband reside in Kennebunk.

Leigh Ann Howard RN, MSN, CHFN Director of Home Health and Specialty Programs at VNA Home Health Hospice.

Ms. Howard has more than 17 years’ experience in the health care industry with most of those years in home based care.
In her current role she directs the home health, telehealth and community wellness programs.  She works closely with her senior management team to develop new and innovative telemedicine and home health programs to achieve the Triple Aim.  She has gone “outside the home care box” to work with Medicare Advantage plans and ACO groups to help reduce costs and improve patient care.

Her current role also involves community wellness. This involves a large influenza vaccination program at most schools in Maine’s two most southern counties. This work lead to the article Best Practice Model for Immunization: One Home Care Agency's Experience Providing H1N1 and Seasonal Vaccine published in Home HealthCare Nurse: Journal for the home care and hospice professional. She received a Leadership Award from the American Nurses Association in 2010 for her immunization work.  She is also published in Clinical Case Studies in Home Health Care.

Ms. Howard received an MSN and is certified in heart failure through the American Association of Heart Failure Nurses.

Christine Turner, RN, MA, CHPN, CHPCA currently serves as the Director of Hospice and Palliative Care Programs at VNA Home Health Hospice. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Southern Maine School of Nursing and a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from National University. Bill Anderson

Bill Anderson is board certified in geriatrics by the American Board of PT Specialties and is a Certified Exercise Expert for Aging Adults by the Academy of Geriatric PT. He is passionate about geriatric physical therapy in the home health setting, and enjoys mentoring and coaching other therapists. He was honored by VNA Home Health and Hospice with Heloise Withee Spirit of VNA Award in 2010, the Homecare and Hospice Alliance of Maine Caregiver of the Year award in 2011 and the Academy of Geriatric PT of the American Physical Therapy Association with the Clinical Excellence in Geriatrics Award at CSM in 2015.  He has been practicing as a PT for over 15 years and is the Director of Therapy Practice at VNA Home Health Hospice in South Portland, ME which includes working with over 100 PT, OT, and SLPs located at 6 different offices throughout the state of Maine. In 2017 he completed his Certificate in Leadership Development through the LAMP program of the American Physical Therapy Association.

He lives with his spouse and two toddler daughters in Portland, ME.

Jim VanKirk, MD, FACP is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Care. He has ten years of experience as a primary care physician. In 2008, Jim started the Supportive (Palliative) Care Program at Eastern Maine Medical Center and has worked diligently to move that program forward establishing a Palliative Care fellowship and initiating outpatient Palliative Care Clinic hours. Jim serves as Board President for The Maine Hospice Council and Center for End of Life Care as well as chairing the Maine Palliative Care and Quality of Life Advisory Council.  Jim currently serves as Medical Director of Supportive Care at Eastern Maine Medical Center, Medical Director of Hospice of Eastern Maine and now in this additional role as Medical Director for the EMHS Palliative Care Service Line that has its administrative home at VNA Home Health Hospice.  This new role allows Jim to take his passion on the road working with EMHS providers and member organizations serving communities throughout Eastern Maine Health Systems service areas in efforts to make advance care planning conversation a standard of care as well as to facilitate greater access to specialty palliative care for people facing serious illness.
