VNA Home Health Hospice hosting flu clinic Friday February 2

South Portland, Maine (January 25, 2018) - Influenza is currently on the rise in Maine this season with more than 1,740 cases reported by the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention. In an effort to combat the widespread illness, VNA Home Health Hospice is hosting a flu clinic Friday February 2, from 1-4 pm at VNA Home Health Hospice, 50 Foden Road in South Portland. People aged 36 months and above are welcome to attend the clinic.
LeighAnn Howard, RN, MSN, director of Home Health and Specialty Programs at VNA says it is not too late to be vaccinated. “Although we are well within flu season, the season can run up through May. It is never too late to protect yourself and your family members from becoming sick. This is not like the common cold—22 influenza associated deaths have occurred so far, five in just the last reporting period.”
Appointments are not required to attend the flu clinic. Vaccine offered to all regardless of ability to pay.

Please note, we are unable to vaccinate children less than 36 months. If your child is younger than 36 months and needs to be vaccinated, please give us a call and we’d be happy to connect you to a site offering flu vaccine for those less than 36 months , 1-800-757-3326.
